About Sophia Green
Counsellor & Craniosacral Therapist
It was in my late 20s when I decided to reach out for counselling, and started to make changes, with the loving support of my counsellor, who showed consistency, kindness, non judgement and total acceptance. Someone who had a genuine interest in who I was, and whose attention was devoted solely to my well being whenever we met.
It was then I knew that one day I wanted to help others in a similar way, and what an awesome, incredible occupation it is.
When I arrived, I had no solid ground beneath my feet, my life was spiralling downhill, and I finally had to admit that nothing in my life worked.
She helped me to unpack the debris from my past, to truly get to know myself for the first time, to learn about my dreams and passions, how to express myself, and how to articulate the things that were important to me. She showed me how to take the first steps, and for that I will be forever grateful.
So here I am over 20 years later, realising my dream, and the right time could not have come sooner as I’ve had to tread a deep path to get here.
How I work
Since then I have explored many different approaches and practices. This has brought me in touch with my heart, my path and soul purpose. I have learned that everything we need is within us and I bring this awareness into my work with clients.
As well as talking therapy, I also work as a Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist, which can be a powerful way to access feelings in the body which cannot be explained with words. It is unique in its ability to work with the source of symptoms on every level, whether mental, physical or emotional and is a natural way of helping our bodies to rest and recover. A feeling that you have been deeply heard is a common experience during a Craniosacral session, which can result in the release of long held patterns and tensions.
The core of my work
I’ve learnt that an embodied sense of the here and now, can help us to feel empowered, to resolve and integrate trauma, and to lead a rich and meaningful life. This awareness can inform and support us, amidst all the turmoil and instability of our lives. It is an awakening to this deeper sense of things within us that can change everything, and can turn things around.
It takes great courage to face the things that are holding us back. I bring a warm and person centred approach to my practice, and when we first meet we can explore what it is that you would like help with. Sometimes we just need someone to listen, to be able to talk to someone and get some clarity about how we are feeling. This can unblock and free up a lot of energy. It can bring feelings of relief, and calm. It can lead to greater motivation, and even feelings of joy and possibility.
