Counselling

Online & In-Person sessions Plymouth, Devon

Counselling is an opportunity to carve out a regular time for yourself, so that you can really get in touch with how you are feeling and what feels most important to you.

My intention is to walk with you, and listen attentively to what needs to be heard and met. This combined with an intuitive approach to my work, can help you to bring your deepest goals and values into being.

Online sessions are becoming more in demand as they enable the flexibility of being able to meet from anywhere in the world or even while travelling, in the comfort of your own environment.

You can also visit me at my practice at The Therapy Collective which is in Plymouth, Devon.

How do I know you are the right fit for me?

Finding the right counsellor or therapist

Talking to someone who will hear you clearly can bring huge relief and create the space to rebuild your life according to what feels most important to you. I can help you to understand the impact of your life so far, and you can decide how you want to experience it going forward.

I started my own personal journey into counselling in my late 20s and have been amazed at how much meaning it has brought into my life. I thought life just happened to me and counselling showed me that I can make choices that align with my true self.

Online Therapy Sessions

A lot of people are choosing to receive counselling from the comfort of their own surroundings where they are most relaxed. This also means that you can access counselling sessions wherever you are based, or while traveling.

Common questions about counselling

In the first session we will explore what has brought you to counselling and identify what you most want from the sessions. This is something that we can continue to review and may change over time.

We will agree a way of working together and I will be guided by the outcomes you most want to achieve that support your wellbeing, and will tailor my approach to your individual needs.

Counselling is an opportunity to slow down and reflect on your current situation, so that new awareness and insights can emerge. As a person centred counsellor, I work with what is present in the room and bring a warm, non judgemental and intuitive approach to my work.

I charge £50 for a one hour session of counselling. This is payable by bank transfer before the session, or by card/cash on the day. You can also buy individual or blocks of sessions via my website.

The benefits of counselling are very much about what you put in and how much you feel able to engage with the process. The changes that you make can depend on many factors such as timing, and your willingness to ‘go there’ in terms of the issues that most need attending. It takes courage to look at these tender places, and as counselling is relational in its nature, it’s effectiveness depends on finding someone that you feel is likely to hear you and that you feel safe and comfortable with. If it is the right time for you to access counselling, you are likely to feel it. Even if at first it may feel daunting, in the right environment and with a counsellor that you feel able to relax with and open up to, deep and lasting changes may be possible.

I have a current enhanced DBS certificate and am insured to work with adults, children and young people. When working with under 16 year olds a consent form will need to be signed by the parent or guardian, to reflect that they are happy for me to work with them.

We can discuss this during our initial call or when we meet, and this can be reviewed at any time.

Weekly counselling sessions are recommended for addressing deeper issues, so that you can feel safe and deeply supported in the process.

Currently I offer weekly sessions online, and face to face sessions every other week at my practice at the Therapy Collective in Mutley.

This varies from person to person and where you are in your life, and really depends on you and what you want to bring. It is helpful as long as it is supporting you to grow and make the desired changes in your life.

Counselling can be beneficial in the short term to explore specific issues, and also in the long term to support deeper changes. We can talk about what you want from counselling at the first session, and it is something that we can continue to review as your situation changes.

I am a qualified counsellor with a CPCAB level 4 Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS). I am committed to their codes of ethics and good practice, and to ongoing training and development.

Everything you share within the counselling or craniosacral therapy session remains confidential. There are a few exceptions to this, which I will go through in the first session. This is also outlined in the information sheet which can be downloaded here: –
