Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

A gentle hands-on therapy to stimulate deep natural healing.

Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy is a gentle yet profound therapy. It involves light touch and the practitioner uses the hands to ‘listen’ to areas within the body where the natural flow and vibrancy of the system has been compromised.

By creating a safe relational ‘field’ between the client and practitioner, deep healing becomes possible. Stillness is accessed and this supports the body’s innate ability to balance, restore and heal itself, as well as helping to reduce stress and build the clients underlying energy.

Craniosacral therapy works with underlying causes as well as specific symptoms and can help with persistent physical issues. It can also be extremely effective with supporting those with a depleted system such as with chronic fatigue, as well as other conditions such as stress, anxiety, depression.

Craniosacral therapy understands that there is an innate capacity to self-heal within all living beings, and as a therapist I aim to create an environment where you will feel safe and deeply supported. This enables the natural healing process to unfold.

Common questions about Craniosacral Therapy

Biodynamic means that I will be working with the natural forces that are present within the human system, and these are the forces that are present within the whole of nature. Craniosacral Biodynamics understands that there is an innate capacity to self-heal within all living beings, and this is sometimes referred to as the ‘inherent treatment plan’. My aim as practitioner is to create optimum conditions for this to unfold. By creating an environment that feels safe and supportive, the right conditions may be established to allow the body to rebalance and restore itself.

Working from a biodynamic perspective means that I will not apply any external interventions or physical adjustments. The term ‘biodynamic’ describes the inclusion of the whole of the person, rather than only the area that is causing discomfort. Our body is an integrated unit: when one part is not working optimally, the rest of the system is affected at some level.

We all have ‘potency’ with in our system; this is an intelligent life force, experienced as inner vitality, and sometimes referred to as ‘liquid light’ and ‘natures physician’. It is a fluid with in the fluids.

In its inertial or protective function it can create areas of density, responding to conditions such as toxins, accidents, shock, or psychological stress, sealing off areas in attempt to achieve the best balance that is possible for the human organism in those conditions. Over time this can manifest as fatigue, depression and other chronic ailments. These areas of inertia and density remain until a time when these experiences can be met and fully processed.

It is then that the conditional forces of our personal histories can dissipate back into the environment, and the life force energy that has been previously isolated and locked into particular areas of the body, can begin to move back into its healing function and re-join the fluidic whole, reinvigorating and liberating the mind-body system. This can bring feelings of lightness, health and wholeness.

This is where Craniosacral therapy is unique, and so gently powerful. Through practitioner presence and the relational quality of Craniosacral therapy, I gently listen with my hands to changes in the fluids and vibrancy of the system. I aim to create a deep and safe holding space so that stillness can be accessed, deep healing can begin to take place and the system can slowly restore itself to balance, harmony, and vitality.

The initial session is 75 minutes allowing some extra time to look at the pre therapy questionnaire (completed before we meet) and to identify what you would really like from the sessions. This session costs £60.

All subsequent sessions cost £50 for one hour of Craniosacral Therapy.

This is payable by bank transfer, or by card/cash on the day. You can also buy individual or blocks of sessions through the website. Blocks of sessions can be purchased at a reduced rate.

Craniosacral Therapy can be helpful for short and long term work. Sometimes it can take a few sessions to really experience the benefits of Craniosacral Therapy. This is because it is when the client feels safe and supported that deep relaxation becomes possible.

This in turn is when the body’s natural healing potential, the ‘inherent treatment plan’, can emerge and profound changes can occur.

We can discuss this during our initial call or when we meet, and this can be reviewed at any time.

More frequent sessions are recommended for deeper work so that you can feel really supported in the process. Currently I work every other week from my practice at the Therapy Collective in Mutley, Plymouth. I also offer weekly counselling sessions online.

I am a qualified Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist and completed my professional training at the Karuna Institute in Dartmoor, Devon.

I am registered with the Craniosacral Therapy Association (CSTA) and am committed to their codes of conduct and ethics in my practice.

I have a current enhanced DBS certificate and am insured to work with adults, children and young people. When working with under 16 year olds, a consent form will need to be signed by the parent or guardian, to reflect that they are happy for me to work with them.

Craniosacral is a very gentle and non invasive therapy that can be effective with all ages and all conditions, working holistically and deeply with the body-mind, and facilitating healing through practitioner presence and resonance.

Everything you share within the craniosacral therapy session remains confidential. There are a few exceptions to this, and this is outlined in the information sheet which can be downloaded here: – If you have any questions regarding this, we can discuss this in our first session.
